"Being nominated as Labor's candidate for Footscray is the greatest honour of my life. The Labor cause and the Footscray community have been defining aspects to my life. I joined the Party when I was 15 and I'm part of the fifth generation of my family to call Footscray home. Footscray has always embraced different cultures and the community always extends a helping hand to those who need it. Right now, the electorate of Footscray is experiencing rapid gentrification. I'll fight to ensure no one is left behind - that Footscray continues to be a place that welcomes difference and diversity. I'll fight to keep Footscray true to its Labor roots."
Katie is being mentored by Glenyys Romanes, former VIC MP.
