Sarah De Santis is the 2018 Victorian State election Labor candidate for the most marginal non-held seat in Victoria - the seat of Ripon. Sarah is incredibly passionate about promoting the health, welfare and opportunity of those living in regional and rural Victoria and providing them with the delivery of essential services commensurate to those delivered in metropolitan and suburban Melbourne. Having grown up on the fringes of regional Victoria under a Kennett Government that shut down local schools, hospitals and transport services, Sarah understands the real need to advocate for the most marginalised people in her community and deliver real outcomes. Sarah has worked across public and private industries including studying and teaching at La Trobe University and working across several State and Federal electoral offices. Sarah spent six years working with the Shadow Minister for Health and Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King MP, before pursuing further studies in law and employment with Slater and Gordon Lawyers. She lives in Beaufort with her three children and travels extensively to campaign in each of the many communities within Ripon, which covers over 16,800 square kilometres, so that people can have the opportunity to raise their concerns with her.
“I’m running in this year’s state election because I know people always get better outcomes under Labor Governments. Ours is a party that listens and delivers. In contrast, Liberals cut essential services and the regressive nature of those cuts impact our communities generationally. The seat of Ripon could determine the next Government so I’m fighting hard to ensure we don’t have four years of cuts under Matthew Guy’s Liberal leadership.”
