First Nations EMILY's List Australia

Australia would be a better place with more First Nations women in our Parliaments and councils. We need First Nations women to have their voice heard in Government, policy and development of legislation to ensure that real change is not just talked about but happens.

First Nations Women ELA (FNELA) is a targeted program being developed by EMILY’s List Australia (ELA) to encourage more First Nations women to run for positions in Local, State and Federal Governments. FNELA carries on the work of the Partnerships for Equity Network (PEN) and will engage, educate and empower First Nations women to get involved in the political and parliamentary systems to make change for their communities.

The FNELA program is organised by two co-convenors, Hon Linda Burney MP, and Donisha Duff.

Take the FNELA Program Survey

FNELA are conducting a survey of First Nations women, to capture the hurdles faced by First Nations women as they engage in changes to benefit their community. This survey will help us develop a program for encouraging, training, supporting and mentoring First Nations women into elected office in Australia. Read about the surveyTake the survey
